How big a redundancy package? Enough to survive on? ???
£ 24K, not a kings ransom thesedays  :(

If you stay on, do you lose any money/reduction in pension?
Protected salary for 3 years then money/pension goes down after that

Arhhh, time to get the calculator out me thinks  ;)

But I will say this, i've just spent the hardest 18 months of my life since the business went tits up  :(
The missus works so we have been paying the bills but the believe me, the hardest thing is sat on your arse not working :(
Its great at first but it slowly eats into you until it drives you up the wall  :'( :'(

Believe me, money is break all when your head is up your arse  ;)

Have to say i've been suprised by the positive comments about the job ,I would have thought that line of work would have caused more reaction!

I've had my fair share of run-in's with traffic wardens but generally when they don't use a bit of common sense ::) If I've blatantly flouted the rules I just accept it and move on ;) At the end of the day, I've gotten away with parking against the rules enough times ;)

:-[ I'm on the point of being made redundant from the council after 23 years service ,at nearly 52 i've got no illusions about my employment prospects in the building industry, however, here's the rub, i have the chance to be re-deployed as a Traffic warden , never thought i'd be in such a position but with mortgage etc i'm up a well known creek without a paddle , do i swallow my pride and go for it or take my redundancy and hope for the best. What would you chaps do ?

Do bears sh*t in the woods ?

You take any job going and then look for other work  ;)

It's called keeping your self esteem and reasons to get out of bed for.
There is no such thing as pride in this world, its called survival  :(

Good luck  :)

Nothing wrong with being a Traffic Warden :P ;D
As already said, if a bit of common sense is used doing the job & you can keep your sense of humour, then why not? :y

Nowt wrong with traffic wardens, people only have a go at them because they know they've done wrong, can't accept it, and try to project their wrongdoing onto them.

BTW I know of someone crying out for skip lorry drivers in Sunderland, he just can't get the drivers for one reason and another. I'd take it as a second job but I've got too much on atm.

Assuming you've got at least C1? Some travelling though.

Just thought if you'd done 23 years at in current job might've passed test before 97/98 whenever it was in which case i thought grandfather rights apply? not sure as i passed my test after then.

Oh well, thought it might've helped, never mind, good luck finding a job. :y
