retest fee is 50% of fee for MOT I think

Is it handbrake cable?  or just readjust everything????  likely to be an hour's labour to adjust everything.  more to replace cable

light alignment - garage should do this is 10 minutes max...

Assuming the MOT was £50, you've basically been charged £140 odd for a new handbrake cable and fitting, and headlight adjustment.

If they fitted the new cable properly, this price isn't extortionate really....

How much is a cable new? I'm guessing best part of £50?

That would leave the garage with a profit of £70. Say £20 of this is for the light adjustment, that leaves them with a £50 profit for fitting the cable.

To do it properly, both rear roadwheels should come off, to correctly set the adjustors on each wheel etc, the exhaust heatshields etc would have to come off from the underside..

I still think that's pretty reasonable?  :y

Looks like the garage would have profited £70 from it then.

Whilst not cheap, it's still not what I'd call being ripped off, if done properly :y

I will say, it's certainly not the easiest job in the world.  Especially those stupid adjusters on each rear wheel!  The swear box got a bit of a beating that day!!  >:(

An MOT, handbrake cable and light adjustment £194! How hard is it to adjust a light? Possibly one of the easiest jobs going, and the handbrake cable, although difficult, that's a lot of wedge  :o

For those who are concerned about the price, remember the OP could have easily enquired as to the cost with the garage first, and then declined to have the work done there if they considered the price too high - and DIY'd it instead...

I still don't think it's entirely unreasonable if it was done properly :D :y

£194.86p + £186.23 = Go f**k yourself i thought it was extreme but this is mental!!
