Think OP has a TID and the warning symbol he describes is shown on lower half and is indeed for "automatic gearbox" although no text will be displayed

thats what struck me after typing :y

in which case its find a code reader time....to check engine and gearbox, but as a 2.2, could be cam sensor...

cant think of another 2.2 with tid that has had the issue to be sure though.

gisajob1, you need to have the codes read to understand what's going on. Cam sensors are quite common failure on 2.2, this can cause other things like the gearbox to report problems when infact they are fine.

TheBoy is based in Brackley (other side of Northampton) He has a code reader, might be worth a trip over to his  :y

yes, but cant recall anyone saying they get automatic gearbox on the mid in relation to a cam sensor issue.
never had a cam sensor issue back when we had a 2.2
