beware if you take a tractor unit on at a Traffic Light grande Prix ....... they're bloody quick off the mark & will probably out run you till his limiter kicks in!  :y :y :y :y  Been there & done that!  ::) ::)

First time I saw it, I found the suspense levels were amazing.  Its dated quite badly, but still a good film.  A bit like Westworld - I nearly kacked my pants the first time I saw that ;D

Indeed yes. Took me ages to get hold of it on DVD. 1st time I saw it was on TV as a student - 1977 IIRC  :-X

I was talking about this film last week with a friend who'd shipped his Harley over to do Route 66 (or at least what's left of it) and he was telling me about one section a couple of miles long that really bad, some sections were little more than potholed dirt tracks where he was down to a walking pace with his feet down in case he lost it on the loose surface.

In his mirrors he could see a typical huge American rig, just sat behind him at a constant distance. Even when there was plenty of room for the rig to pass, it still sat behind. Whenever my mate stopped to let him pass, the truck stopped as well and when he pulled away again...so did the truck.  :-\

After a while all he got a bit concerned and started thinking of that film 'Duel'. :o

He was rather relieved when he got onto a good road surface and the truck roared past with a couple of short blasts on it's horn.

Fair doos to the driver, he must have stayed behind my mate in case the bike went over and would be able to help him lift it upright again.  :y

I remember the film as well, nice thriller. Mercedes did a race truck with auto box that did 0-100 in 8.5 secs. Top gear did a very short bit about it. Steve Parish race the truck in the grand prix series they used to do before it all went to europe. A work mate had a 2.3 auto Cortina Mk5 and was blown away at traffic lights by a Scania 141 V8 some years ago. But my Omega got out dragged by a fuly loaded truck from the lights after the pipe from the servo to the EGR valve got broken by a shoddy fuel injection repair centre after they replaced my injectors.  Keith B

Indeed, a solo unit with a good driver is quite quick to about 45/50 mph ;)
