You might just have opened a can of worms that could hit 7 pages there. At the end of the day I think it is down to personal preference. I prefer the manual but drive an automatic. The automatic uses a bit more juice but it is pleasant in traffic.

i had an auto (sold it on tues) i hated if you went up any sort of hill, it downshifted for no reason then two seconds later upshift again. It was handy in traffic and motorways. but where im from there is alot of backroad driving and manual is better for that. when i get another omega it will be 3.0 v6 MANUAL

Manual for me too.
No point to an auto if you have a v6 as you can use the torque to drive around town in fifth all day anyway...

I've had a few Omega's now, a 3.0 Mv6 auto, a 2.5 manual tourer and I currently have two late Mv6's, both 2.6 but one is an auto and one is a manual.
I've just (yesterday) got back from a trip to Ireland to take a Mate to collect his new Imprezza, the 350 mile drive was made all the more rewarding for having a manual box to help through the twisty bits.

Maybe I'll prefer an auto when I'm older!? :y

Hahaha I sense a 20-pager from this   ::) ::);D ;D ;D ;D

I personally think the auto is better overall. It's an executive car. Therfore comfort is paramount and part of that is having your gears changed for you.

Yes sometimes the manual will be better for say when you're on a country road and the drive will be more enjoyable but come on, for the most part you're stuck in traffic and/or on the motorway where your working your left leg for no reason.

I would say test a few and see what you think. but its auto all the way IMO  :y

It was also by Birthday yesterday and I'm now the 'grand old age' of 36! I do however try not to take my health and fitness for granted as I realize not every one is as fortunate as me...

It depends if you have locking wheel bolts or not.  You'll probably have plastic caps over them, so you need to pull them off to see the bolts.  The standard bolts are 17mm.  If one on each wheels looks different, then they'll be the security locking ones, which you should have an adaptor for.

If you don't have the adaptor, then the fun and games will start.

Ah! have to agree it is very possibly an age thing
Used to love a manual last one was an MV6
Now been auto for the last 4yrs
A manual would now be a definite No No
For one thing I think in modern city traffic conditions they have a definite safety edge
Not that I don't still drive manual's as I help in a friends garage business
Which involves driving a variety of motors
Case your wondering my age is quite senior :y :y
