Fault Codes
« on: 09 May 2012, 12:38:39 »

Need help to know what these fault codes are, PO727, P1700, P0700, they were read from the engine ECM but they relate I think to the auto box. The problem I'm having is that the car starts up in limp mode on a regular basis. The only way of overcoming the limp mode is to stop & restart the engine. When it starts up in limp mode the light with a car & a spanner through it comes on, when it's not in limp mode the light does not come on. The fault light comes on when the engine does not start cleanly & turns over lazily & the auto box goes into limp mode. The cam sensor has been replaced by one from Quinton Hazell. The car is an X reg 2.2 petrol auto & has done 145k miles. There is a slight blow from the exhaust manifold I don't know if this is affecting the start up & hence causing the limp mode problems.

0700.......autobox "malfunction"
0727.......engine speed circuit No Signal
1700.......request from autobox to illuminate EML

If cam sensor was not genuine, purchased from Vauxhall/Opel, strong possibility that is your problem especially with haphazard starting

The cam sensor was a Siemens. You still think it could cause the problem?

Colin:
This item, from a company called Meat and Doria, could well contain a Bosch sensor in it, however I cannot tell you this for certain. It would be however up to the standards and specifications as laid down by GM.
robert:
OK thanks.

So it`s not a genuine part, and if you read their FAQ you will find

Frequently Asked Questions
Please note we do not sell Genuine parts (i.e main dealer parts) and that all references to Car marques & cars are solely for identification purposes only.

Think that answers your question as to whether you have a genuine cam sensor. :)
