British Gas 15% price rise.
« on: 11 May 2012, 13:10:10 »

Does anyone remember when the utilities were sold off we were assured prices would be kept low by competition. British Gas have announced that gas bills will go up 15% in the coming winter  due to"Wholesale gas prices being higher". I wonder if one subsidiary of BG is selling wholesale to another part?

Anyway my answer would be to take a leaf out of The Argentinian president- Kirchner and renationalise the lot and pay whatever we think they are worth not the market rate. Oh and pay it back over years as there is a crisis. Most of the shares are owned by Johnny Foreigner anyway. ;D ;D

I wonder how the utilities in say France manage to adhere to government price rise caps of 5%? Maybe they milk the UK market for the difference!!

Aaaah the old rising wholesale price chestnut again!!  ::) ::) ::)

More like:- " Look here chaps, we've had a really mild winter and you havn't used enough gas!  >:(  This has affected our bottom line and our shareholders are going to get abit arsey when we pay ourselves astronomical bonuses this year!  ;) So we've got to stick it to you again this year, about 15% should do it and that should keep everyone happy!!  :)  Except you lot, but we don't really give a toss about you our customers!!!  :D "

My fuel bills used to be a million pounds a year. But I got a good deal with EON and now I'm only paying nine hundred and ninety thousand pounds and, get this, I'm on a fifty year deal. So it won't matter to me ha ha ha ha ha ha burble gibber  :D :D :D

How come you have got such a cheap deal? I can only assume you do your cooking over a camp fire, don't bother with hot water and only heat one room, to keep it just above freezing during the winter.  ::) :o :P ;D ;D ;D ;D

Read the second half of this article on UK commitment to reduce CO2 by 80% over 40 years, this £18bn per year has to come from somewhere.  :o :o :o

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/9233096/Europe-alienates-us-all-as-foretold-40-years-ago.html

In this world of crony capitalism, I think the Government must have an agreement, don't mention carbon taxes for price increases and we'll turn a blind eye to them and your vast profit rises.  >:( >:( >:( >:(
