when i got my mig the old boy who had it had sum m/s 185 70 15s fitted to say the journey home was very smokey due to fk all grip!! i then fitted a 225 60 15 tyre & its really comphy & doesnt tramline!! i then went to 17s with 225/45/17s all round bit hardish ride but good drive cornered well, then i went to a set of 245 40 17s big mistake!! followed every bump dip tramline inthe road motorway awfull!!
ive bared with them for 2k & put my steels back on!! drives really well again!!  :)
But i think im bout to get pissed off again by fitting a set of either 235 35 19s/245 40 19s on front & 275 30 19s/275 35 19s on rear!! hope im not making a huge mistake going for looks rather than driveability!!
anything wider than a 235 on front seems to be deadly!!
(i had a set of softstar pfl elite 16s on my old saloon with 225 55 16s again drove great!!) but tyres are getting harder to souce in a good brand of tyre tho...
Have you thort of checking your tyre pressures or going for a better quality damper to make it a softer ride??
Even tyre brands differ in hardness, check your sidewall ratings close to 100 is soft upto 300/380+ is harder meaning a harder tyre firmer ride longer life, also a tyre with a rim protector has a harder ride than one without

275s on the rear?  :o Why?

A 3.2 can't break traction with the standard 235s unless provoked, IME. :-\

Because thats what tyres i have already that came with alloys 235/35/19 fronts 275/30/10 rears on 8.5jx19 alloys, & in a few weeks i be getting a pair of 10" rears in the same style, but a 10" with a 235 rear be way under tyred mate need a 265 minimum for a 10j even a 235 on a 8.5" looks under tyred really...  :-\
Having tyres fitted later today will try upload pix later or ask blackviper to upload them for me  :y

I'm interested in this thread as I find the ride too hard on the standard low profile tyres on my 3.2 Elite on 17's. I would willingly sacrifice some roadholding for a more comfortable ride, particularly given the amount of potholes in the roads around me. :-\

Ah well, I already have a spare set of 16" wheels for my mfl TD estate, so I guess I could try them. Are there any issues I should be aware of?

None i can think of just make sure treads legal & pressures correct, tyre size should be a 225 55 16 V rated tyre for the elite
