Camnelt DVD
« on: 18 May 2012, 18:44:27 »

I've just bought the cambelt DVD, but Windows Media Player says it is unable to play it (laptop and Desktop running XP), it claims I need something called a 'codec', presumably some sort of software. When I follow the Windows help button, it kindly offers to sell me the appropriate software. Is this some new MS scam? If so is there any way round this? :y

XP doesn't have a MPEG2 codec. Try it in a dvd player first ;)

For freebie codecs, google 'ffdshow tryouts' and go to sourceforge page, and download it (dont bother with original ffdshow, this was abandonned a few years back)

Dont install the 'codec packs' like k-lite etc. They are packaged (badly) by retards for retards. Avoid at all costs.

Yes, ffdshow is an mpeg2 codec allowing mpeg2 to be played.  But first watch, get it on a nice big screen, and admire MDTMs nobbly knees - when we told him he was to star in an educational video, he came dressed as a, errr, "educational video" star ;D

Is it suitable viewing for pensioners? Any sudden shock could result in litigation!

Just had my first viewing, and some questions arise will no doubt arise. I shall start the strip this afternoon. The stat is to be changed as well, which I will do first, unless advice is otherwise. :y
