If anyone is interested this amazing event is "on" on the other side of the world right now ... difficult to find a web feed that is working .. but this one looks like it might work ... about 30 minutes until the action starts .. hopefully as the team is on top of the mountain the clouds might not be there ..

Still a bit cloudy there but you can get glimpses of the event.

two guys talking on the phone in the snow so far. now a rainy screen.

edit, so these guys are using solar power to film an event, which is the sun disappearing.

I saw a total eclipse of the sun in Zambia about 10 years ago.  It happened about mid afternoon on a cloudless hot sunny day, and as the sun was slowly covered you could feel the temperature dropping and the nightime insects started up it was very eery!! As the sun reappeared the birds started singing as at dawn!!  An amazing experience!!  8) 8) 8)

I suffer from an Annular Eclipse fairly regularly, it's called a shitty arse where I come from though! ;D ;)

I suffer from witnessing an Eclipse every monday evening when visiting the Mrs Parents House, Seeing that lady bending over to pick up a glass or something is like something from Star Wars Total blockage of all white light  :D
