Through the winter, do you leave it in ECO or Auto?

Check its seized or not first mate.  If its seized usual to replace compressor.

To check, remove elec plug on compressor and put 12v across compressor terminals - if you hear a loudish clonk thats the clutch engaging and all is well with this component.

I would check there is a 12 volt supply to the clutch first. If it's not there, there is a relay and a few pressure switches to check.

Good move Kevin - remember now when I replaced old Estate compressor I did check this first - all ok and was in fact seized clutch.

How did you get the pump working? Maybe there's a clue there?

I don't think I've ever come across an Omega where the air con is what I'd describe as "ice cold", though.

You using one of these DIY kits mate?  If so they're krap.  Suspect your problem due to insufficient gas in system - you need an air con specialist to fill system with correct amount of gas.  Air con ain't for DIY mate  ;)

Whilst your low side presssure is about right @ 45psi, correct function also depends on correct pressure on high side (expect around 200 psi).
