which engine in old mk3 astra??

Been offered a mark3 astra, well I think it is mark3 it was produced in 1997
Engine is 1.7td with 60kw
I know there were opel and isuzu engines in this astra, isuzu was great opel was lets just say not so great.
But have no idea what is this engine.
Can anyone help?
Also would like to hear about experience if anyon had this astra.

60kw is around 80bhp which I think is Isuzu engine but a pm to MDTM should confirm it,not much he doesn't know about vauxhalls :y :y

Although the above engine is from the slightly later car, effectively it's the same as the GM engine fitted to the car you describe. If it'snot like that, it's the Isuzu (off to find a picture  ;) )

If its an Isuzu Motor the turbo will be at the front on the engine, Rad side. If its the GM unit then the turbo is at the back.

GM lumps although not as powerful are ok as long as the belts is done on time and the oil is changed with good qty oil
They did suffer from head gasket problems but most would have been done these days and the oil cooler pipes also suffer.
Th isuzu lumps main problem is valve seat wear which can acuse problems starting in cold weather. If this is a proble then valves need to be re-shimmed or if its to bad then another head would be required
