In std form the 2.5TDS BMW engine fitted to 2.5TD Omegas is bloody awful. Under powered, and overated. Bit like their cars, people see the badge and assume its wonderful.

It has a 4.5k MAX oil change, but anything over 3k and you can feel it run rough. Takes 6.5l and a £5 or £10 (trade price) oil filter, depending on age, so quite expensive to run.  In std form, esp round town, the v6 2.5 manual will be faster, smoother, and similar economy.  Get it on a motorway run, and it can be economical.

Now chip it, and it becomes a different beast. Until it melts the standard autobox - Omegatoy didn't quite managed 100miles with his chip  ;D

Vectra Elite Estate doing good post-Omega service but still not as nice to sit in.

One last Omega on the drive, one Corsa on the lawn...maybe they'll go to a good home before too long!

I had the 2l 8v in my old cavalier (I assume it's the same engine).  Not to be laughed at, it was very powerful, bulletproof and never had any problems with EML's like the newer engines.
