Which DIII ATF?
« on: 24 May 2012, 19:21:41 »

Hi chaps, hope you're all well :)

Going to be doing a quick ATF fluid level check/top up this weekend if I can (time very restricted unfortunately).

As I have no history showing the fluid's ever been changed (should be every 70k if I'm right in thinkin') I am going to do a full fluid change but as I say time is so bleedin' difficult to come by I am just goin to do the check for now.

Bearing in mind I don't know what fluid type was put in before am I ok to buy any DIII ATF and top up or are some ''unmixable''?

Was going to use this shizzle as I only want a 1L bottle to top up.....

Cheers.

Dex II for PAS and DexIII for the trans. I'm sure TB will be along soon to tell you just how much he loves Castrol :y

If you want to do on the cheap, Hellfrauds sell Coma shite (still better than any Castrol shite) for around £20 for 5l.  Personally I like Fuch Titan 4000, but around £30-40 for 5l.

Needs about 6-8l, depending how good a job you do of getting it al out.

Hellfrauds aren't so bad TBH. Somewhat frustrating if you want a fanbelt, but all they seem to sell now is Pink shite, overpriced satnavs and pushbikes. Thats just the nature of what they have become. Like trying to buy some oil from a petrol station that only sells ready meals and veg. Or trying to buy electronic components from Craplin.

I feel there is a difference between the Coma ATF and the Fuch one, having had both in my cars at various points.  Not a massive difference in price, bearing in mind how often you change it.

Castrol, like Michelin, do not make a product that is suitable for anything or anyone >:(. But they were exceedingly good in marketing it  :-X

And whilst I'm on a rant, petrol stations sell coffee to take away. WTF! These retards are supposed to be selling fuel, not encouraging the retards of the road to drive whilst drinking hot drinks.  Last time I looked, I'm sure the old bill would rightly pull you for this.

And whilst I could probably just about deal with the fact there are retards driving along drinking hot drinks, in the same way I've come to accept the dozy bint in her Golf I see occasionally on my commute doing her makeup on the A5 dual carriageway, what really rags me off is me having to queue out the door to pay for my fuel, because all the cashiers are queuing around the coffee machine to make coffee for retards customers.

Let's try and distract him before he blows a fuse ;D

Webby, I'd suggest it's worth a full ATF service rather than just a top up tbh.

Never worth just 'topping up' unless you know its been recently done properly, and its leaked a bit.

I was delighted when the local Morrisons installed pay at pump machines. Retards avoided at a stroke. :y Then it dawned on me that they don't sell LPG or Super unleaded, just 95 RON weasel pee, so nothing suitable for either of my vehicles. Machines have been "out of order" for a couple of weeks. I'm guessing they haven't been selling enough of those rancid Ginsters pasties so they've got to force you to queue up again. >:(

As I understand it, they cant sell LPG at Pay at Pump.

The newish Asda at work only sells petrol/diesel (and only the 'cheap' versions) and have no kiosks, so no chance of LPG ever being sold there :(
