My Suzuki Vitara has this engine and will need its cambelt changed ,according to the information I have gathered, in about 10k miles.

I have tried looking for a suitable forum. The English language forums don't cover this diesel engine, which whilst popular in Spain was never fitted to UK or USA spec Vitaras.

So I am left looking for a forum that is as helpful as the OOF!! ;D

Which one though? Citroen? Peugeot? Can anyone recommend a good preferably free to join forum?  :y

Take your pick as they all use the same Hdi engine but of course they are all transverse mounted

Well I guess I have the DW10 engine. But it is a guess

Interval for cambelt change (is it a so many years or x thousand miles, whichever happens first)? Are there myths like VX saying 80k for Omega cambelt change when in actual fact it is 4 years or 40k miles.

Plus if I do it myself (looking at it it looks a sight easier than the Omega V6 which I managed -using OOF info of course including the DVD!) do I need special locking tools.

What belts/kits (change tensioner if it has one) are recommended?

lol if its spanish built you could be lucky!! and just change it and tension using the 90 degree rule of thumb,
however most HDI, puegot/renault/citroen, nowadays say it must be tensioned using a hertz meter,
or they wont guarantee the life of the belt,
spanish built just use 90 rule!!

Give me a RWD GM V6 cambelt change any day over that transverse mounted pain in the rear French rubbish  :D

In all seriousness, I did my DW10 cambelt on my HDi 110 406 a few years ago. Wasn't difficult, just take your time.

If it's out of warranty, the 90deg tension rule will work fine :y

Change interval is(2005) 90k normal and 72k under adverse conditions(whatever they are !),that motor should have a complete kit and water pump changed at the same time, Hdi  engine codes are RHW/RHZ
