LPG Kits getting cheaper
« on: 03 April 2008, 23:42:22 »

Last year i bought the kit for the Omega, SGI and a 70l tank = £705

Just had a quote for another one from the same company but this time 80l......£630!!!!!

Madness, that's half the price i can get it fitted for....sod it i am going to do another one DIY

Its a shame we cant get a bulk buy together and then one bank holiday weekend do a few of them, we must have half a dozen members here that want/need them done

He was happy to talk about a 10% discount for us before. Let's get a list together and go for it. :y

mines being done once we have the engine, i will be doing it all at the same time.

He now only supplies with the poly pipe, this makes the pipework so much easier, the rest of it is pretty much run of the mill for me now, the only thing i won't do is the Lambda wiring.

if you had 4 people doing the supervising, and the owners of the cars doing a lot of the donkey work you could get 6 cars done in a couple of days, the only caveat is that the cars have to be in good mechanical order before starting otherwise you are making issues for yourself

I could be very interested in this too.. I'll keep an eye out as this thread develops, it could end up being a very cost effective and interesting exercise for us all..  :y

In the meantime I have a couple of unresolved oil leaks to sort out, nothing too major - but just waiting for someone to come and supervise as they promised..

I am looking into LPG after finding out about the ROAD TAX hike, but i think most of you chaps are quite far from me in leeds so I don't know how well that would work.

Yep... I'm interested! I'm quite happy to do most of the install anyway. Just a bit concerned about the drilling/Tapping of the manifold, making the holes in the bodywork, and the final set up!

Definitely planning to convert so this could be the way forwards!!

The first time i did mine i had the same concerns.....

Measure twice, cut once  :y it works for me......

I generally have a couple of spare inlet manifolds around as well, just in case things do go slightly pete tong.

The filler neck goes in the bumper, i know a lot of places that don't like doing it, but it saves getting a rusty quarter panel in a few years time

The trick there is to make sure that we try and get as central to everyone as possible.....

Some people will have to travel further than others, but that could be due to location.....

I don't believe LPG will lower your Tax, although i would be happy to be wrong on that.....can anyone confirm?

I think it does but looking at the figures its only a small amount.

I have just posted a Road Tax Petition link in a thread! Would be good if we could get the whole forum to sign

I would defenitly be interested, especially if we could get enough interest to get the extra 10% dicount. Maybe if people wanted to do an LPG conversion meet then maybe a bank holliday weekend would be good too give us a little extra time as not to be racing against the clock. If you could PM me the details of the kit and supplier Jay that would be appriciated.

As you can see, I barely have the time to maintain my own car, let alone devote the time that my girlfriend, dogs, and family deserve..

It's no wonder I am run down  >:(

Whist I agree I did say I would help as soon as I could... if it's a real priority for you I would kindly suggest enquiring around a few other local members who would be happy to help you strip/refit the cambelt, crank pulleys, and change the oil seal...
