I have just heard that the ladies (beach) volleyball teams competing in the Olympics in London this year are not allowed to wear bikinis. The usual excuses, it will upset our muslim brothers!! wtf???

we can't show off any flesh where the bloody muslims are concerned  but i don't care if they don't like me showing my flesh off as its our country not theres, they should break off back to there own country , sorry for the rant but they just piss me off

The way I read it is that the girls will have a choice of shorts if they wish. They can already chose to have a full body suit in colder climates. Let's be honest guys some girls loook better in shorts

Wtf,why are Muslims telling us what we can and can't do in our country,it doesn't belong to them,they have there own country where they can live by there laws,don't like it here get a 1 way ticket to your country and as you pass customs hand back your UK passport and don't come back

Although.... Iirc there was some sort of uproar in the press a few years ago, about the beach volley ball governing body ruling that said bikini must be worn, in fact said bekini must be no bigger than the regulatory size.

A ruling that was seen as sexist at the time. I don't agree personally, but it was suggested to be unfair and ladies should wear what they preferred. Rather than be imposed upon by outside influences.

Yes - a bit of research has allayed Uncle Denny's worst fears - although the following excerpt carries relevance many here would find to be disturbing;

Despite the pictures, women beach volleyball players have been given the option of playing in shorts rather than skimpy bikinis during the London 2012 Olympics.

The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) have brought in new dress code rules to cater for different countries' cultural or religious beliefs.
