Is this the same guy you know who works for VX, who fitted new camcover gaskets to your V6, only for them to fail shortly afterwards, and who couldn't find the coolant leak from the split pipe on the bridge, and who crossed two plug leads, caused a misfire, and then said "it's donald ducked mate" and caused you to essentially scrap your old car?  ::) ;)

To add to this, didnt your problems start (rough running, sounding like a tractor) after having cam cover gaskets done?

I believe this is because he swapped two plug leads over, causing an awful misfire :)

Just a few examples from a quick search, all failing within weeks to 2 years, laugh it off all you want, its your money you are burning  ???
all i am saying some omega owners have had good patten parts and they work for them as i know the guy who works for vx some times he tells me to get patten parts and he never been wrong yet :y :y and by the way if i want to burn my money its up to me never been wrong yet for using patten parts

I have to go with the consensus. In my earlier days of V6 tinkering (I've done many many a top end rebuild on these) I trialled a few pattern gaskets. Only one actually lasted. So I have to concur that, whilst you may sometimes get lucky, genuine is really the only way to go.

Afterall, they're only £25 a bank :y

So £50 for a full kit then james and everything included  :-\ guessing that would be on TC only or from andy .

+ Vat, looking at around £75 all in for everything from AndyC. Given 4 pot ones are around £40 all in, it really makes pattern a pointless choice.

Might be a smidge over £50 once you include o rings etc, unless James already included it.

Mine were replaced by James last month and it looked like they were the original gaskets when the car left the showroom. The gaskets werent leaking either, just a bit brittle. A couple of cam bolt O rings had a slight weep though. Lasted 11 years and with a full VX service history, most likely breathers were never cleaned either!
