Anyone got any thoughts on these???
« on: 03 June 2012, 16:51:08 »

Just wondering what anyone thinks of these

I'm in the process of clearing the decks, building a new garage & investing in new equipment. I'd love a 2 post lift but cannot accommodate one due to planning  >:( >:( >:( . This may, be a possible alternative  :-\ :-\ :-\ but I'm undecided if I can trust a car on one  :-\ :-\ :-\ . They say the limit is 2.7 tonnes but something just doesn't seem right looking at them????

Thoughts please?

I have looked at numerous lifts like this. I find there is far to much of it's working parts under the car. For example if you where trying to do an exhaust/prop shaft/gearbox etc I don't think you would mange it on that.

It would be fine for brakes/suspension etc.

I am a tightwad so I make do with ramps and axle stands  ;D ;D

I used to have something very similar and while very good for general wheels off servicing and brake work its not much good for anything else under the vehicle as already said

if you are in the pre plan stage, a nice pit might be a better option, a lot faster then waiting for lifts to go up and down.

those are ok for wheel off jobs and, thats about it.

As he said. If you go down the pit route, check out pit jacks first to allow for the correct width of opening and for two pieces of heavy guage angle to be inserted along the top edge for the pit jack to run along
