Rear Shocks 'n' Springs Quote
« on: 08 June 2012, 13:18:04 »

Hi guys, hope you're all well and looking forward to the weekend  :y

Just got a quote from Vx for the above.

Rear springs sold as a pair (not available on TC) - £315 exc. VAT  :o :o :o :o
Shocks sold individually (sold on TC) - £48.77 each, exc. VAT.

I would dearly love to know the following:

1. I politely declined the springs as I've seen them in Eurocarparts for £32.99 each. However, I don't know if they'd be any good. Anyone got a link to a decent pair :D at a reasonable cost?
2. Those shocks: good price? it means that with VAT they'll cost me £117.04 for the pair.

Cheers guys  :y

Go pattern for springs,  KYB, used them before, stuck Boge on 2.2 last time, again quite good. around £30/40 each.

Shocks, I'd go GM on TC prices  :)

For shock change, you need to get a 6mm spanner for top, also ratchet spanners are a god send on this job  :y

It's quite easy to break a 6mm spanner on this job. One of the few places to use a decent adjustable imo.

I found shock and springs a satisfying little job, it sounds major dropping diff (looks impressive too for next door) but its actually very straight forward. But you do need a big jack!

KYB or Boge rear springs, buy a pair.  Tradeclub shocks are fine. Some (like me) prefer B4s, they are slightly stiffer.

More than willing to help supervise, but apart from Sunday, I'm probably fully tied up until after the Lakes.

Pm replied.

Kyb Springs and GM shocks, IMO. I probably would not bother with b4 unless upgrading springs personally. But each to thier own. :)

Thanks guys for all your input. PM to ChrisG  :y

Got in the car to drive this morning and a terrib;e clattering noise coming from the passenger rear (was initially diagnosed with bad spring drivers' rear)

Rocked the car and could see the pass. rear shock is making a horrible noise.

This ok to drive? Will I be doing any damage until sorted?

Going to purchase springs 'n' shocks tomorrow.

Ps, I can't find these KYB springs specific for my car and Eurocarparts are out of stock. Are these any good....
