Unless its had a lot of engine mods or a turbo fitted a remap won't give you 200bhp unfortunately, you might get another 10% or so

A few other things have been done too - ported and polished inlet manifold and throttle body, fuel pressure raised and a smoother flowing exhaust. It last made 181bhp on the rolling road on a stuffy hot day.
That won't do much, as the injectors are plenty big enough :)

I see this has become quite the controversial thread!  :-\

You started it ;D
It's good that you've done something from the norm. My hat's off to you :y :y
Can't disagree with that :y

Personally sceptical that the RR figures are correct, a 30+% increase in power is a big ask from modest mods.

New map is on the car and we have no more flat spot between 3k and 4k revs. Be interesting to see what this does to the fuel economy.

To get the RR figure into perspective, did you do a run (on the same RR) before you started the mods to the engine ?

Not read the full post.

At what revs did you get your peak power at ?

Yes, this is a vital step. Whilst you can't really rely on the power figures from all rolling roads, for a back-to-back test to see what you've achieved they are useful.

It's important to use a rolling road other than that owned by the bloke who tuned your engine. ;)

It would have to be close to 7K RPM in my book, hence I'm sceptical that standard cams would achieve it, as the 2.2's cams feel quite mild.

Am I right in thinking that the 2.2 is pretty much the same as the 2.0 ecotech but with a different crank for a longer stroke hence the extra 200 cc's ?

Iirc, you can get 200 bhp out of a redtop but thats with fancy cams and other bits  :-\

Anyway, fare play to the OP for having a go  :y :y

Yep, similar engine and they make about 165 on standard internals and Weber 45DCOEs IIRC.

Similar engine but a more compromised head design (sadly).

Although at the higher powers you realy need to stud the bottom end.

There are one or two of the red tops making high 200's bhp after major expense!

Is that the engine that was used in the Cavalier british touring car during the 80's ?

I have seen one (after major expense) make 302 on Dave Walker's rolling road. No moving parts original, and the rev limit was tweaked to a slightly naughty level to get the money shot, as it made slightly below 300 with a sensible rev limit, but was still rising.  ;D

It peaked somewhere between 8500 and 9000 IIRC. ;D
