Omegas on camp sites
« on: 10 June 2012, 09:53:00 »

Morning all,
Just back from a week in the New Forest with the tin shed. Not one Omega on the site. I remember about 7 years ago counting around 10 on one site we went to.
It makes you wonder what people have replaced them with. I still wish I'd LPG'd the 3.0 estate I had instead of listening to SWMBO and getting her a Fiesta. As much as I like my Rangie-I do still miss the Omega's I had for over 10 years.

Sadly their numbers are going to continue to fall, old and expensive to repair at garages means more and more will be scrapped.

My list for future replacement:

BMW 530/535d
VW Phaeton
Audi A8
Jag XJ

Definitely my replacement for the Omega. Having owned a 530d auto, I can vouch for their overall ability :y :) :)

5 series much too small in the cabin for tall people, and the Estate (tourer?) has little space. :'(

Just back home after a few days camping in Suffolk, no other mig's on site but saw 2 estates both silver (same as mine) in Southwold both facelifts & both in great condition.

Mate of mine had a 3 series estate hire car recently.  I was shocked at how cramped the cabin felt!!  :o

You've missed out the big Volvos. They were the other option I was looking at when I bought the Omega. Very similar design ethos; big, comfortable, spacious, well engineered, practical and with none of the tedious pretend 'sportiness' that afflicts BMW and Audis.
