Cam belt
« on: 11 June 2012, 19:33:07 »

The Omega is due for a belt change as it's 4 yrs since the last one.

I wondered if it's worth getting a whole kit or just the belt, do the tensioners ever fail?? Also do you need any locking tools? and can it be done without a ramp, like at home on the drive??

Cheers

Belts dont usually fail, its the tensioners which let go, so yes you need the whole kit.Proper locking kit is vital,as is the dvd from the OOF shop if its your first time. :y

I'm glad you've said that. Got no access to a ramp at the moment lol I'm guessing maybe someone in the club, or the shop has the locking tools available?

Sweet, just had a quick browse on your website. You sound like a handy guy to know :) Not sure when I'll get round to doing the belt, probably next month.
Just out of interest, how long do you take to do the belt seeing as you know these engines inside out??

2.5, about 50m. 2.6/3.2 probably about an hour. 3.0, just over an hour.
