So what would happen if we all went out & bought an electric car with a GPS device fitted that electronically controlled our speed so we couldn't speed anywhere. What would they do then I wonder!!!!
Tax electric cars.
They may bleat about road safety, but their no. 1 priority is to raise as much tax from us battery hens as possible.
That's pretty much the long & short of it.
Not so long ago the message was that smoking kills (and I have no doubt it can kill for some individuals) and that tobacco duty had to be constantly increased to cover the cost of treating "smoking related" issues and for some this "tax" would hopefully help them to give up a so called unhealthy lifestyle.
The last time I looked, tobacco duty made the government approx £11 billion per annum.
At the same time, the cost of treating "smoking related" issues was only £2 billion per annum so the obvious question is where was the other £9 billion going?
Now if all the smokers in the UK gave up tomorrow, does anybody here really believe that the government is going to let £11 billion + per annum just walk away?
