Thanks to TB!
« on: 10 April 2008, 20:35:39 »

I now have my cruise control enabled and my climate control and transmission software both updated.

Very smooth journey home from Brackley. That transmission update is a real must for anyone with a mini-facelift or facelift.

Thanks TB! Great job  :y

Just don't go on about 3 litres being better than my 2.6.

Cheers

Nick   ;) ;D

Yes, it can be done on 2001 autos. Basically it is a software upgrade which has to be done with a TECH 2. The result is far smoother auto changes and a much better feel on acceleration.  :y

I see yours is 1998. Depends if its a 1998 model, or 1997 model.  Solid headrests, side airbags, steering wheel audio controls means it can be done.

Time for a did you know moment.....

Did you know that the autobox upgrade was described as being targeted at the 2.5TD around 2000 model year.

I have a suspicion that its smoother in order to put less load on the auto box clutches.....which for some reason have a habit of failing!

Thats interesting :y, yet also odd  :-/

If it was for 2.5TD, not sure they made a particularly good job of it...  ...never been that impressed with the update on the tractor, esp wrt the change points - pops it in to 4th too early imho.

Additionally, its not as smooth at changing as the petrol maps, though that may be due to the extra torque going through it.  I did wonder if this was a mechanical/hydraulic fault on mine, but all 3 gearboxes (::)) have done it.

From my own personal experience, I would say its very, very worthwhile on all petrol models, not sure I'd say worth the cost on a TD  :-/

I've had lots and lots of positive feedback from petrol ones I've done, and I know you have to.  I've not done a tractor, other than my own, so haven't got a 2nd opinion on it  :-/

We need a guinea pig... ;D
