My passenger side mirror doesnt work with the rest of the memory system, but can still be adjust electronically. I replaced the glass on that side with a genuine glass from VX when I bought the car as the original one was broken. Are all facelift glasses (apart from the heated element) the same or does the memory ones have an extra connector for memory feature?

Mirror glass is the same, terminals are only for heater element, memory function controlled by the motor

To add to this, I had a Tech 2 on this car recently and, whilst the door mirror actuator tests were fine, there is no feedback of the passenger side mirror position and the ECU had stored a fault code to that effect. Initial gut feeling was that it has perhaps had a change of motor in the past and the motor fitted doesn't have the feedback potentiometers required on an Elite? Didn't strike me as a wiring problem, as one signal was at 0V and the other at 5V, if memory serves.

I wonder if the electrical connector is the same on all mirrors, but a non-Elite mirror doesn't have the position feedback?

Just a guess, though, as I'm not familiar with the setup.

I guess next step is to strip the mirror down and visually inspect the wiring, and check the correct motor is present.

Giving the multiway connector between door and body a good waggle might have been a useful diagnostic step, actually. Didn't occur to me at the time.

Connectors are the same across the range but the Elite connector on the actual mirror has nine wires. OP, suggest you remove mirror to confirm it`s Elite spec

You should be able to answer this by simple removal of the internal triangular shaped trim piece which would give access to the electrical connector for inspection.

IIRC there`s no access with that removed Mark, needs removal of mirror

So just need to pull out glass to reveal wiring. Will do in about 30 mins

Not on a F/L, all you see is 3 screws and 2 bolts

Either way, interior trim has to come off, if the mirror has to come off too, it's only 3 screws.

This sounds like a similar issue to mine, since changing the door to another elite 03 door, there is no memory feed back from the mirror position as shown via tech 2 with TB. Mine is the same mirror that worked before, the same car loom obviously, so that only leaves the loom in the door.

A check would be, for me, to remove the original loom from my old door, and run it from the mirror plug, through the open window, to the a pillar plug, and see if the motor memory works. (then re set the air bag fault no doubt..? )

But the thought occurs, would it be possible to remove the working mirror and plug it into the non working side? Are the plugs the same? If the other mirror works too it's not the door or car loom, but the mirror itself at fault. No idea if the plugs and pin layouts are the same though...?

Yes because the mirror will fall off 

I have a distant memory of a piece of sponge that is removed to reveal the wiring connector

Why would this be? Someone at some stage replaced it with non elite? When you say non elite mirror, do you mean just the motor or the whole mirror assembly?
