Roy had said that they had practised penalties but like he said in practice you can't replicate the atmosphere or the players tiredness. also ashley Coles penalty was saved so credit must go to Buffon who saved it :)

Probably just as well we are out really, saves us the humiliation of being totally hammered by the Germans.

didnt watch the game..  :-\

but in my opinion whatever italians win, they dont deserve!! some years ago they beat brasil by a poor game, they only stand in defence..

and brasil had a bad goal keeper.. they only came 3 times and all 3 ended with goal..

macaronis dont play well .. I have no doubt about it..

and as for professionals.. build an amateur team, you will see it will be more successful in world cup..

tigers-gonads Why the use of ffs??????? We all know what it stands for unless yopu can explain that its usual meaning is not the one you meant? Why do you feel the need to use uncalled for abrieviated foul language?
Its high time that this forum was cleaned up a little and the use of this type of language curtailed and also penalised considering that there are bound to be other members who are a bit shy to make any adverse comment about this now very common abrieviated expletive useage by a minority of the more 'senior' members. Why do some of the more senior members not set an example to the more junior ones?
Why do I need to give it (?) a rest anyway? My comments were valid considering that the so called best 'stars' of the England team were playing and once again, as usual were not up the task! Aim your anger and frustration at the players who are little more than a waste of the supporters money yet expect to continue to be supported. Every single match that the England team lose we are given the usual waffle about this that or the other being the reason. Its never that they were simply NOT GOOD ENOUGH! Why is it always the manager who suffers? He is not the one who is playing! My original comments stand and it appears that others also support that viewpoint.

Well when they were playing, I supported France :y, then the British team (England) :y, but now they got trashed bad luck or England ;D ;D............However, look on the bright side at least they got through to play, unlike the other British team (Scotland) ::)

Oh and as Andy Murray said, ''I am not British, I am Scottish'' :P

It was a very disturbing game for many reasons.... the one main reason, like JonnyCool mentioned, that we are nowhere near to the top teams. We were tipped to beat Italy who hadn't really shined and OMG the only reason they didn't win 8-0 was cos of their impotency in front of goal.

A win on penalties woould have led us to Germany where no amount of luck would have helped.

Wellbeck was marking Purlo when he dropped deep..... for about 10 mins. He seemed to forget to mark him after that. And cos our midfield was sooooo deep he had plenty of space to knock it around. They also had lots of joy down our right. There just never seemed to be anyone defending on the right.  :-\

I think we British are right to expect a home side (in this case England) to give a good showing in European or for that matter world cup ) football.

Football in Britain is a very very well paid occupation, nay Industry. True there are other countries with as well paid leagues. Spain and Italy for example. So it is fair that our expectation is for a good team and that we put in a good showing.. Maybe we did all that was expected and have to expect to be beaten by Italy, Spain and Germany. For me that isn't good enough. They are similar sized countries and don't have a vastly larger pool of people to become talented players. Maybe we are trying to field too many home sides. Perhaps we ought to just have a Great Britain team.............. Come on Britain lets show em in the World Cup. :y

In the meantime come on Esapana !!

Ive always believed we should have had a U.K. team rather than four seperate teams.Imagine what would have happened if George Best had played on the international stage with team mates like Moore,Charlton, etc. - unbeatable I would think.

Absolutely no way. I personally don't consider myself British. I'm English and would hate to think I'm cheering on Welsh or even worse SCOTTISH players. Nar way

Webby,Im sure that if a Scottish/Welsh/Northern Irish player knocked in a goal to win the world cup for the British nation you would surely be a happy man. ;)
