if its that type would need to test on a meter, check its earth line, ie earth to earth, also check the bonnet switch, see if its working they can go aswell.

would think its gone, there is a battery in side them may have leaked and burnt out the board, but will not work without a battery working inside. do you know why that is fitted? origanal alarm would of been fine?

But just before i replaced the battery it made like a sticking sound on the alarm then after a few seconds it cleared up and the alarm was working as usual.

all models had standard alarm fitted looking at an old 1994 spec book.. but if it was chirping before thats the battery in side going. the  rest of the alarm must be there. have a look and see if there is any wires in the drivers side under the window in the drain suttle if there is 2 sets or 3 then it was fitted even if it was just a horn type, could check the wires to see if the wires are live when the alarm gose off.

A car that has climate control as standard is going to have an alarm  ;)

Looks like some after market piece of crap add on, I'd throw it away   :y
