V6 - rad electric coolant pump questions

Hi,

Firstly, how do you remove one of these from the rad? The pump sits in a tight rubber sleeve which seems locked into the body of the rad itself. I'm probably not pulling hard enough  ::), but which way should I pull to remove it without causing injury?

Next, which direction does the pump work? It has a connection at the bottom and one at the side, so, which is the input?

Finally, is the pump the same as the aux pump fitted to some MFL V6s not having cruise - with the pump sitting roughly where the cruise unit sits.

Pass. Never tried to remove it. Does the pump slide out of the rubber sleeve?

It's a centrifugal pump, so the pipe into the bottom will be the inlet, and the pipe emerging at a tangent from the side will be the outlet.

I believe so. It's very similar, at any rate.

if yo're in doubt as to which way it works, there's an arrow on the casing.

Same as the aux heater pump.

Nope, not at all. I have a spare rad with one attached and want to remove it for a non-car related project.  ::)

somewhere I've got the spec from Bosch with pressure, delivery, head, etc. would a copy be useful to you ?

It would be interesting yes, but don't go to any trouble on my part.

My application is rather simple - moving rainwater from a butt connected to a downpipe  into a freestanding one. I know a bucket is an easy way of doing it, but seemed a good idea to use some free Omega technology I have kicking around  :)

best to just "crack-on" - I don't think you'll be probing the outer limits of the pump's performance. :y

And the verdict from the Lincolnshire jury is as follows:

The pump shifted about 100L of water in 20 minutes, which is fine for what I wanted it for. When I was finished I did some testing to establish what height it would pump to - answer is about 2 metres above the pump.

So, there you have it, great for moving water over a relatively level distance (although I could have done it by bucket quicker  ::)) but, has a lift limit.
