A dentist friend of mine once told me that there are patients that hate injections and the numb feeling in their mouths so much that they insist on having work done without anaesthetic  :o :o

Bugger that..

Big girl's blouse. ;D ;D I'm half way through treatment for root canal work. I had five injections last time because the dentist had to drill so deep.

Unless it's root canal treatment, I NEVER have injections for fillings. Can't be bothered to dribble and talk like a half-wit for hours on end for the sake of avoiding a nano second of sharp pain.  :y

I've had fillings done without anaesthetic.  I had a bad experience many years ago when the dentist used so much anaesthetic that it seriously slowed down my heart beat.  After that, I was very nervous about using so I had fillings done years later without it.  It's not too bad. The pain only lasts a few seconds and then you don't have the soreness from the injections or the numb mouth to deal with later.

(Bloody hurts though!)

My dentist and I have an understanding. As he gets ready to drill I gently grab his plums and say "Now we're not going to hurt each other, are we?".

remember the dentist gets paid for more fillings and he's probably got to build up his holiday fund
