Guys  :)

What MPG do these Omegas do and are they quiet inside on Motorway runs?

i`m looking at a Vauxhall Omega Elite Turbodiesel 2003 03 Reg 2.2 16v DTI with 98,000 on the clock for £1850

The Dti is not a common model. But fairly reliable.(if I haven't just jinxed it by saying so) bit buzzy and vibey at tick over but smooths out on the move and difficult to tell its not a petrol from then on. Other than the comparatively short power band.

Being face lift you'll have the usual tactile finish scratching off the door handles etc, but other than that...

I might suggest the miles are a bit high for that price, although its not a common model, as said.

A friend of mine has a 2.2 DTi estate - he's seen 600+ miles to a tank on long, cruising motorway runs (I think he hit 800, once). And runs it on anything; veg oil, waste engine oil, waste gearbox oil, candela oil, crap wine (no, really)...

It's no noisier than my 3.2V6, just a damn sight more economical! I still have half an eye out for an Elite variant, but they're rare as rocking horse poo.

The MV I've just bought has the soft-touch wet and dried off in a vertical line downwards from the main concave door pull and it actually looks pretty smart. They must have masked it! No doubt other ways to sort this. This 02 reg is noticably quieter than the PFL GLS and the 2000 MV6 I had - but this could be mileage speaking.

Always intrigued by the TD offerings. Seem to hold their money due to the current financials though.

Wait... 800 MILES!!!  :'( :'(

Yes that sort of range from a tank is not to be sniffed at. But neither is the cost of LPG.

Thank Christ (in a Jethro style) for LPG. ;)

If its a saloon very quite on motorway
Had a ride in 08 octavia other day and compared to elite very noisy.
My dti elite will do 42mpg on long run around town driving expect to get low 30's

check drivers heated seat gets warm
check if rear shocks are leaking or have been replaced with standard shocks as the self levelling shocks are expensive but make so much difference!
I picked up set of 16" cdx wheels and tyres for mine and the ride is much smoother and quieter than the 17" tyres!
And you just have to have an elite for the bose sound system! And the xenon's!! When you've had them you'll never go back or understand why people spend thousands on a new car without them  ;D

I once looked at getting merc e class but to find one with spec of elite someone had to tick a lot of options which adds about 15k to new price!

If you don't buy it let me know as i'm looking for another diesel elite.

Think the 2.2dti will have prety decent economy on motorways (especially if manual).
Even my old barge (2.ttd auto) is ok with fuel on motorways compared to petrol migs.
Lowest consuption was around 6 litres per 100 km but this was on open road and not motorway.
I usually get around 7 though, never bothered to calculate the town driving.

One more thing, check the front armrest (usually broken catch and new armrest is pretty expensive from dealers)

I'm with you Pete on the 44. I was getting 46 up to last week, but I got fed up with driving like OAP & booted around a bit ;D

I'm very suprised at dejbear only getting low 30's :o :o
