Hi Guys,
About two weeks ago my Omega 2.6 V6 automatic broke down on me and refused to start again, it would turn over but wouldn't start. After reading all your helpful advice on this forum My dad and I decided the culprit was the crank case sensor. So we replaced it and it has been running now for over a week, as before I would be lucky if it would run for 5 minutes without cutting out.
For some reason now, the spanner light comes on and goes off whenever it feels like it, which it wasn't doing before. Also, when you give it any amount of reasonable acceleration normally to about the 3000-3500rpm range the car seems to hesitate before it shifts and the emissions light flashes for a few seconds then either goes out or stays on static for a few days and will then go off again.
I discovered the pedal test works with this car so I tried that and it returned the following fault codes:
44?
0204 Cylinder 4 injector circuit high
0300 Random/Multiple cylinder misfire
0304 Cylinder 4 misfire
Apart from this hesitation when accelerating the engine runs lovely, doesn't sound rough, shifts nicely and runs fine as long as I accelerate it very gently and get it to shift before it hits that 3000-3500rpm range.
I am guessing that the hesitation in acceleration is perhaps cylinder 4 misfiring but I don't understand why it has only started doing this since we replaced the sensor. The car has done just over 65k now and the spark plugs were changed less than 5000 miles ago.
Any advice would be appreciated,
Chris.
