Can you buy just the CID screen??
« on: 14 July 2012, 20:13:49 »

I have a pefectly good CID unit paired with a perfectly good 2013.... but the screen on the CID is fubar.

Am I right in thinking I could replace just the screen (keeping the rest of the CID unit) - so therefore wouldn't have to get anything paired or Tech2'd?

Are the screens alone possible to come by?

Have a chat with Abiltz James, believe he has a contact for repair.

CID is paired with the 2013 so you would need the code and a Tech2 to unpair the old combo and pair the new screen.

If the new screen is not placed in delivery mode before removal from the donor vehicle, it's a paperweight.

I was under the impression that applies to the whole unit including the screen, and that the screen could be removed from the rest of the unit and there would be no need for tech 2.Only hearsay though,so would be interested to know for sure. :-\

Ahh.. are you talking about taking just the LCD screen out of the CID unit? In that case I'm possibly talking dangle-berries. Never taken one apart so I don't know. I know if replacing the whole CID you need pairing.

Indeed. the LCD (alone) can be replaced with no fear of pairing issues.  The pairing is held on the 2 circuit boards.
