Hi All

Could anyone help with advice on getting hold of Ali rocker covers for my V6 Elite. I am wanting to cure the gasket leaking problem asap. I have fitted new gaskets recently, and when the MOT was carried out my good friend advised me that i still had leaks, and recommended the Ali covers.

Any advice or contact details to precure a pair of thes ellusive parts would be mos grateful.

Hi Craig.

I really wouldn't bother with the alloy covers, they can cause more trouble than you have already. You need to fit genuine gaskets and clean the breathers out and the original cam covers should be fine

What gaskets were fitted, if it wasnt genuine, and they werent torqued correctly, then a leak is to be expected

I bought gaskets from local motor factors, so you recommend genuine gaskets from Vauxhall dealer ?

Yep, genuine only. There are two on the forum that say they have fitted pattern part gaskets with success but the majority and its a huge majority have had them fail within weeks or months. Give me a shout if you need some, looks like your not too far away and I get them at a very good price

There are 2 problems with Vectra covers. 1 the oil filler neck is at the rear of the engine and 2, if the breathers block there's a good chance that instead of the cam covers leaking the crank shaft oil seal will let go instead and I know which on i'd rather change

Agreed. A good job on the breathers and gaskets, and regular cleaning of the breathers, is all you need
