How to clear the Low Beam / Fld Level error message?
« on: 17 July 2012, 19:33:08 »

Hi everyone.

I've had the Low Beam / Fld Vision error message on my Omega for the last 2 years and have finally got round to getting it fixed. The headlights are now pointing the right way(!) so all good for the MOT but the error message still displays on my dashboard.

Is there any way of resetting it so that the error message is cleared without the need of going to a Vauxhall dealership?

It's not the end of the world as I've been clearing the message every day for 2 years but I thought it would automatically have gone now that we seem to have fixed the headlight levels.

Any advice gratefully received!

the message will go when ALL faults with the system have gone.

are both sensors on the car working?  front wishbone, rear trailing arm?

Sometimes I have the same message. As i asked in a previous thread, i have problem with the headlights. Can you tell me where are located all the systems (front wishbone, rear trailing arm)? I just can't find an explanation where to look. I found my adjusters in the front, but as i see, there are also other components?

Levels sensors are both on the left (as you sit in the car) hand side of the car.  :y

There are motors on the back of each headlight and an ECU under the drivers side wing

What exactly did you do "to get it fixed" if the warning is still on !!!!

The warning is because the ECU is trying to motor the lights to where it thinks they should be.. and can't ...   either because the motors in the lights are broken, or the sensors are not working as they should ...... so which bits have you played with .... and how  ???   :)

Wow.. I've found the two adjucters back of each headlight.. I'll check the other sensors some day.. My biggest problem is that i have the Y25DT engine (2.5 DTI) which takes all the place and it is very difficult to operate in there..

If the head light field of vision warning is still popping up, then there is still a fault.

It's not simply a case of re adjusting the light beam to the correct level. If that's the case here...? So, what exactly was done to fix it?

In most cases, HID beam faults are due to a failed front sensor but that doesn't mean it couldn't be something else. The only way to determine exactly what the fault is, is to connect a proper code reader to you car.  It's not unheard of for water to get inside either of the level motors which would also put the message up. Failed plastic level adjusters would have any effect on the electrical side of the system & will not cause the message.

To both OmegaRich & SPD - first place to check is the sensors as in RobG's pics - check the arms haven't popped off the sensors.  If they have refit them - if loose cabletie or wire them on.

If these sensors look ok check the levelling motors at back of HIDs - they can seize due to water ingress.

Access to a Tech2 will pinpoint where the fault is.
