Bio-Diesel ?
« on: 14 April 2008, 00:31:10 »

Talking to a mate who decided to get a Merc Diesel and go the Bio-Diesel route.

Anyone on here using it.  It's something thats completely over my head, but would be interested to hear member's thoughts.

Also interesting on the Petrol/LPG V Diesel/Bio setup/running costs.

Well.......i use lpg....and unless you wanna run an omega.....theres not much difference between the fuel costs now and a diesel car......

Ive seen a guy in tescos carpark filling his 4x4 diesel with tesco veg oil.....not sure if he mixes it with 'pump' diesel or adds additives........but the price of that has gone from 70ppl to £1ppl......so thats hardly worth it now.......

Im looking again at changing my omega........and it will be deff back to diesel......my criteria will be.......diesel/auto/estate......and low VED if poss  :y

Not sure about bio diesel......but i bet thats top dollar too now as well  :-/

In the summer months I use a 50/50 mix of Rapeseed oil and Diesel in my wifes Rover 25, in the cooler time of year I put about 15 Litres of Rapeseed oil and then fill with Diesel.

I wouldn't normally bring up this up, because I know we all want to save money running our cars, but personally I wouldn't touch biofuels with a barge pole. Not for financial reasons but rather for moral reasons.

The greenie left-wing push for biofuels, based on this global warming racket, is wrecking the environment and pushing millions of the world's poor to the brink of starvation. I'm no crusader but I personally wouldn't want to add to the demand for these fuels at present.

Here's a good link to read more:

I'm not preaching, just stating a personal view.
