Search Engine Recomendations
« on: 21 July 2012, 12:53:42 »

Getting hacked off.

Not been a fan of IE since I went on to use firefox.

I have quite a few pages open at any one time and it was causing Firefox the odd issue.  So have installed Chrome and Safari plus upgraded to IE9

Safari is good but I dont like the fact it opens a new tray icon and doesnt sam=ve the last web pages when shut down.

Chrome is good, as is Firefox.

But IE9 is just a great PITA, I have face book open on every browser but Safari and IE9 wont reload them after shut down.  IE9 keeps hanging, heard loads of complaints about it but after just a few mins I am so peed off with it.

PC is windows 7, 4 GB DDR2 and a Quad core Q6600 With a 1GB Radeon 6770 HDMI Vid Card.

Ive just installed Chrome on my lappy. It did have IE9, but for the last week or so kept hanging and popping up error messages then trying to restart tabs....supposedly to be caused by slow internet connection/running out of memory/add-ins. But with none of those problems it still had a problem......so Chrome it is  :y

Try IE9 with plugins disabled.  Arsebook is so desperate to sell your info, I wouldn't put it past trying to do certain things to gain said info.

I'd test it, but I'm nowhere near gay enough to think about getting an arsebook account

Chrome is the best I've tried, and Opera is not bad either.

A mix of IE8 and IE9 here, never have issues. Minimal plugins, and defo no toolbars.  Rock solid.

Firefox is OK, but a pain to keep updated, but I have to have it :(

Chrome too buggy, and too many security holes.

Safari sucks under Windows, with some serious default flaws when used on Windows.

Tried thet, no improvement.

Updated java and reinstalled flash (the remembered I had uninstalled ver 11.3 because it kept crashing and installed ver 10? something or other) now back on 11.3.  Slight improvement it the fact it now loads pages, but still slow and still locks.  :-\

Best advice is to try to use sites that don't need plugins.

Have you disabled AND uninstalled any toolbars?

The AV plugins frequently break IE (and FF).

Some toolbars don't want you to uninstall them. Thus, its important to run as Limited User to prevent installation ;)
