Thought they were all built at Russelheim :-\

Maybe they had a Fitters Strike on that day and the Managers rolled thier sleves up and did the job properly?  ;)

Estate tailgate spoilers are bonded from the factory with a windscreen type adhesive.  I can't see there being any difference between Prodrive and Irmscher versions in that respect.  If, however, it has been fitted at a later date, then it could be stuck on with anything.

In my experience, I've never come across a spoiler that has any bolts or screws holding it in place, however prefacelift/mini-facelift ones do have 2 metal locating studs (1 at either end) that fit in holes in the the tailgate.  These can be a pig if you are trying to cheesewire through the glue, as they will cause the wire to snap.  Facelifts do not have these studs.

They can be removed, although a large mug of patience is required.

HTH  :y

Had one off a PFL V6 Tourer Estate James, had either M5 or M6 stud bolts aswell as glue, strangely it also had the Leather Badged Recaro Buckets seats fitted that were mainly only fitted to the EU Opels, maybe made at a different factory?  :-\

In that case I would suspect that these bolts would be instead of the location studs, and would pass through the standard holes in the PFL tailgate.  In any case, it would be very easy to see the bolt heads with the tailgate open.  :y

Spoiler now removed.
Took much patience, three retractable blades, a screwdriver & wedge. Was stuck on with a good amount of bonding sealant.
I'd say it took me around two hours of very slowly cutting & moving up with the wedges.

It has two threaded bolt holes that look like M8, but they're no were near the holes for the wires & screen washer pipe so not much use. Though for fitting & removal at later dates I have a cunning plan ;)

So what's the plan then Pete?  I assume you are bolting all the Irmscher and elite bits to your DTi?

No such plan mate. The DTi's a saloon :)

I purchased the Elite Estate knowing it needed a little TLC, it had been looked after service wise, but needed a new tail gate (dreaded tin worm) a good clean & polish, there's a few scuffs, scratches & trolley dings to sort.
The story is that a Midwife bought the Elite with full Irmscher kit on from new, kept the car for three years & then gave it back to VX, because she couldn't afford the fuel (stop start, stop start as Midwifes do). Then Simon purchased her in 2003/2004 & kept her since (he was very sad to see her leave).
I got her with all intention of getting her back to a very presentable state, so a tail gate was purchased (I took a chance with one the same colour which paid off, the shade match is bang on) (hence the swap over of Irmy parts), carpets & some other bits.
She needed cam cover gaskets & alternator wasn't charging (both done now). Next is to do is the cam belt & LPG, then get her on the road.
So there will be a DTi up for sale sometime in the near future & after what's fast approaching five years of ownership, I shall be very sad to see him go :'( :'( :'( :'(

Doh!!  :-[

Well I hope you have been taking lots of pictures Pete.  I for one will be very interested to see the progress and end result!  :y

Interesting the you class the estate as a girl, but the saloon as a boy... I wonder, is this something to do with the estate having a larger rear end...  ;D :-X
