OOF race
« on: 26 July 2012, 14:33:23 »

Just wondering, has there ever been a race with the OOF omegas? ( done on a private airstrip/road and of no danger to the public of course! ;D )
If not who reckons theyve got the fastest and fancies their car would win?
Just sayin because my MV6 has a lovely oomph to it... And I reckon I could take yas!!   ;D ;D :D

There's been a race between an Omega and an MX-5.

The MX-5 won.

Easiest thing would be to take them all to a drag strip, though..

I think everything else being equal, autos are faster (except from a standing start) than manuals. When we went down to get my mv6, on the way back I drove my elite (auto) and my dad drove the mv6 (manual). The mv6 couldn't keep up when accelerating 70+

I feel the makings of an annual race coming on.

The first cold pressed Spanish extra virgin olive oil of the season. (Can't do wine as the Beaujolais run already exists)

Set off from Dover amidst loads of TV publicity. Contestants only allowed to carry two spare crank sensors per vehicle.

Check points at various forum members houses on the way to ensure no deviation from route.

Halfway point would be my ruin. Two days R and R before turning around and heading back. Plenty of TV coverage of les Ros Bouefs saving the Spanish Economy and having fun too.

Various categories. Highest speeding fine achieved, most fuel used, most time spent looking for an LPG station, no repairs needed, most repairs needed, shortest driving time. ;D ;D ;D

I imagine the easiest/cheapest way to find a rough idea would be to arrange a rolling road day. This would at least give comparative brake horse figures etc.,a race day sounds much more fun though!

Said MX5 didn't beat my freshly timed 3.2 auto estate though.   ;)  He tried 4 times to beat me, as I recall, but failed each run.

Must have been combing his hair and missed the 'go'.... ;D
