Oil cooler peugeot diesel + rad fan
« on: 01 August 2012, 12:36:43 »

Couple of non Omega questions on my Peugeot diesel 2.0 Hdi.

While the garage sources a replacement oil cooler at a sensible price, I have been carefully running around with the oil cooler water feed bypassed (half inch copper pipe). I am keeping the revs down to no more than 2k in any gear. I am getting a bit concerned as I need to do a few longer journeys (hour each way) and also pull a trailer with some building materials in it. Am I systematically ruining the engine? My plan was to immediately do an oil and filter change when the oil cooler is changed. It isn't running any hotter than normal.

Second question. The rad fan isn't working. The fan itself works on direct jump leads to the battery. I am thinking it must be a sensor somewhere. The only one I can find is a four wire to a sensor in the air con. The air con fan works fine. This four wire has a Blue/red wire which is the same as the wire to the fan (plus an earth wire). Is that likel;y to be the rad fan sensor too or is the sensor going to be somewhere else like in the thermostat housing?

Sorry it isn't Omega but there are a lot of helpful guys on here. (Sound of Henry off stage heading for keyboard!)

That is a good source. The engine is a year 2001/2002 so I will have a ferret around.

Thanks :y
