I am back to this topic again Is it necessary to remove the scuttle to get at the pipes involved. And is there anyone in the south east that would help and teach  with this task for a petrol allowance and payment

If they haven,t been cleaned in a long time ..or your ownership..for extra peace of mind I would suggest removing the plenum as you can also give that a good clean whilst removed.Make sure you push rag or kitchen roll down the inlets as you don,t want to drop anything down  them.

In all honesty it is a very straight forward job and if you follow the excellent guide to the letter you will not go wrong.

I would happily offer assistance as not too far away ,however I am slightly imobile at present due to a stomach operation so if it can wait a few weeks then should be back fit and happy to assist.

Scuttle panel can remain in place as access is fine without being removed and you may end up disturbing seal.

Thanks Amba disturbing seal was my worry The breathers were cleaned  jan 2010 and I have done about 10,000 miles since , oil change every 3,000. my worry was an apparent lack of access but you say that is not a problem. Thanks for the offer if I take it up I could come to you if thats better.

First time you do it yourself, might be easier to remove scuttle, but certainly not necessary.

it defintely helps. especially as i have replaced my hose ''clamps'' for jubilee clips and need to get a small screwdriver in there.

as for the seal when i put it back i noticed there was a bit of a gap between the joins right above the disspac.  ::) so i sealed that up  :)
