no one round here seems to want to touch it other than the dealer who have quoted 396 all in. so may have to bite the bullet.

Hi Mate,

Where's the decent garage nr Plymouth. Only in Kingsbridge and a new omega owner, would be handy to know (though seems right as rain at the minute- famous last words...)

well going to get the dealer to do it as there only a 2 min walk from my work 390inc vat for fixed price so i asked the guy is there any hidden charges etc he said no but if we find oil leaks from the camseal or rocker covers or the waterpump pulley has a play etc it could be more. i told him i can change the waterpump and rockwer gaskets etc i just dont have confidence to time the belts up. and im buggered if im paying another 100 or so quid to have them do the pump when i can do that for free. he didnt seem to impressed. so hopefully they wont try pulling a fast one.

That is way too much money to pay out for just the belt/tensioner kit being replaced. :o

As advised give either James V6 or Darth a pm ...they will do it properly and for considerably less than that imho :y

Gates or Conti kits work out around £100 and for a decent mechanic around 3 hours work maximum, so still typical dealer rates for dubious quality work. >:(

Seriously get one of the trusted mechanics of the forum to price the job for you. :y
