Start up, tick over problem,em light
« on: 10 August 2012, 10:16:48 »

Hi all and hopefully thanks in advance.

Omega 2.2 CD petrol

The engine light/em light is on permanently (not the one with the spanner in it)

On start up, the engine struggles to fire, and more often than not, fires then cuts out completely.

After a while, it starts and then the tick over stutters at around 400 to 600 revs, but will run ok with a bit of a push on the accelerator.

Once it has run for about 5 minutes, it runs and drives fine.

A little while ago, I had a tester plugged into the car and it came up with a fault on fuel bank 4 ( P something, sorry the code escapes me as it was a while ago now).

Having read this and other forums, the suggestion I got was to change the camshaft sensor, this has been done, and it remains the same.

I have also changed the plugs, and renewed a few hoses that were a bit tired and clogged from the butterfly housing to various locations, as well as cleaning out the said housing.

There is no oil at the plugs, as I read was a possible problem, and the MAF sensor has been checked and cleaned/blown through.

Sorry for the lack of technical information, but any hints tips or suggestions that may sort this out would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

If its the "Engine" light then thats the Emmissions light .
You really need to get a code reader on it so we can see whats going on here .
Any oil in the plug wells ?
