NCDC 2015 ignores clock settings
« on: 18 August 2012, 11:43:44 »

What the title says.

Clock in the car has always been fine, but some days ago I noticed that it was 10 minutes or so off time (actually, girlfriend made me notice it the hard way).

So I set the corrected time and... the car ignores my settings. It keeps saying that now is 10 minutes ago.

This happens regardless of the time auto update setting being ticked or not, and regardless of the time being set with the audio system and engine being on or off. The damn thing keeps ignoring me.

Google didn't had anything relevant on "NCDC 2015 clock". Maybe OOF has something to say about it.

Forgot to add some background info:

Screen and NCDC 2015 are stock and unmodified. It's a BOSE system. The only particular thing it has is a Parrot MKi9000, but it is wired directly to the BOSE amp, so it isn't touching a thing in the radio itself.

I don't have an NCDC so can't comment on why it is ignoring your menu choices and I don't know whether it uses GPS satellite time or RDS radio time.

Assuming it is using RDS time you may get it to update the time by leaving tuned to Classic FM or radio 3 or 4 (don't know why but some radio stations seem to be better at transmitting a time signal than others).

As often with these units, pull them out for a couple of hours to properly reset. No codes needed for NCDC.

A quicker reset, but usually not as effective is to press and hold CLEAR for about 7s

Interesting. I'm taking the car for a long trip tomorrow. How much time does it take to catch the time from a station?

I assume that this hard reset you are talking about can be done by disconnecting the battery a couple of hours. That's so radical.

Probably that "hard reset" would clear fuel consumption data. Will "soft reset" clear it as well"?

The time signal is transmitted every 60 seconds so you shouldn't have to wait more than a minute or so if you are tuned in to one of the stations that transmit a good RDS timesignal and have good reception.

I thought I might update this thread.

This saturday I was going to take my car for a walk and found it completely dead. It wasn't even able to raise de door locks. We checked the car with an amperemeter and it had no comsumption. The battery is apparently wrong and discharged itself completely.

After the new battery was in place, I had to set again the stuff that went misconfigured. Among these things was the clock. I set it up and it has been working right since then. No more unfixable 10 minutes delay. Weird, but I'm happy. One headache less. I forgot to check if the auto update setting is ticked. I'll check and post back.

Besides, the idle battery consumption of the car is funny. We stopped and locked the car (without setting the alarm on). It kept sucking 2 amperes for a good 30 minutes. Then it stepped down progressively to 0.1 amperes during more or less 45 minutes, and finally went to 0 after 15 minutes or so and stayed there until we got tired. What would be the car doing during the first 30 minutes to suck such an insane amount of energy while just standing there? :o I have a Parrot installed, but that doesn't suck 2 amperes. The gadget-filled Omegas can drain a battery with a low charge easily! Walk them often!

I seem to remember that these Opels don't have it. I'm not sure, though.
