ABS ECU UNIT COMPATABILITY
« on: 19 August 2012, 12:13:41 »

I have a mini facelift 2000 V6 Automatic Omega with cruise control and,I suspect, a faulty ABS unit (rev counter mostly at maximum and ABS light always on) marked 0 265 220 644 (not sure if its the original or not)...I am breaking a year 1999 pre facelift V6 automatic , no cruise control, with a good ABS unit marked 0 265 220 427..anyone know if they are interchangeable please?

Both Autos too? Think as long as they are same engine/transmission should be ok.  :-\

As long as similar engine/gearbox, AND both come from MFL or FL....

Did you mean to write rev counter? AFAIK there is no connection between the ABS and the rev counter.

Typical symptoms of ABS ECU failure are that the speedometer goes to zero & both ABS and TC warning lights come on.

Before spending too much time looking at specific components I would check the battery & charging circuits and also try removing and reinserting the instrument console to check that it is plugged in properly.

Rev counter at maximum=heavy right foot ;)

As said failing ABS ECU puts abs & tc lights on, problems with speedo not working and loss of some power assistance.  Not connected to rev counter at all.

Just to update this, although the cars not been on the road yet as i still have the brakes to bleed i can confirm that changing the ABS unit has cured the rev counter (yes the rev counter ) and the tc light now switches on and off....before change the rev counter mostly stayed at 7000rpm, the speedo worked, and the traction control light was permanently on!

Just seen The Boys post, as stated the cars were a pre FL and a MFL...but is there a problem because of that?
