hi all
dose anybody know which is the best portable mobility scooter to buy
i already have a rascal 850 which is a beast of a scooter but i need one that will dismantal and go in the boot
any help would be helpfull

Go-Go Elite Traveller is the one
Used one for the wife for the past 6 Yrs
Seems to go for ever no trouble at all
Easy for 75 Yr old me to get in to back of Miggy(estate)
Seat in 1st,Battery next, drop handlebar down then rest of buggy in
Should the old back start to give problems in the future the buggy will break down further
The back axle drive unit unlatches off in a very clever well thought manner

Just seen you have an estate so here's how I load
Seat in !st (upside down) hard up in top l/h corner,with front pointing to car side
Then battery with front hard up to rear of seat
Then drop down handle bar with turnkey and lift rest of buggy in
It will just park front in in the gap left on the r/h side
Simples!!
Jobs a good 'un
Once timed myself did it in 90secs
Then was a few yrs younger

If you use these scooter's a reasonable amount each day how long do they take to fully recharge

if you run them nearly flat it takes about 3-4 hours
my rascal 850 will do about 25-30 miles ive not flaternd the batteries flat yet
its best to keep them on charge all the time if not the batteries wont hold a charge for very long
and they are not cheep ive just replaced mine after 6 years the cost £200

Thats a good way  I thought they only did about 2 or 3 miles , local place here hires them out for £2 or £3 a day ... maybe looking into one soon . Thanks for the replies

EMD the smaller travel scooters do 5mph and are good for 8-10 miles mine is a class 3 scooter and dose 8-10 mph  but these have to be registerd with dvla and taxed though the fax costs nothing

Scooters have classes now  ...... the 8-10 mile range one would suit

that would be a class 2 allso called a pavement scooter they do 4mph  and dont have to be regesterd
they come in 2 diferant sizes travel ones that can be dismantaled and put in your car boot & a mid size that cant

We have the option of the long range battery
Seems to last a fair distance/time
We simply run it untill the handelbar meter needle moves into the red zone on power demand
Still seems to be a fair omount of reserve left
I think the buggy operates @ 24V not 12v
At least the charger output is 24V 
We then charge it at the earliest opportunity
I understand the battery is AGM technology (absorbant glassfibre matt)
I found the performance so impressive that when Miggy's battery needed replaceing
I replaced hers with an AGM battery

But i guess thats plenty for normal pavement usage , the ones ive seen have been on the road and quite nippy with indicators an all ...  The smaller class 2 ones seem a bit unstable especially with the full rain cover on . So if you have a class 3 you cant use the pavement ?

Seeing EMD's last post mentoining pavements has reminded me I should mention:-
Were we to get another buggy it would have pneumatic tyres not solid
Winifred's bone structure is a wreck from yrs of attack from rheumatoid arthritis
Although thankfully it's now mostly burnt out
She's now complaining certain surfaces cause her undue pain in her joints
So were looking in to doing an update as they were an optional extra
I'd like to comment that the combination of Miggy/Buggy/Blue badge
Really gives us total freedom/mobility that otherwise would be denied us

EMD you can use a class 3 on pavement as well as roads you have a switch that limets them to 4mph for pavement use
