Rebuilding from 2,2 to 3,2v6
« on: 16 September 2012, 22:47:45 »

I have a 2,2 omega (2000), and I want to know if there is possible for me ( hobby mechanic ) to take out the engine, and all equipment of the car, and replace it with the engine and equipment from a 3,2 donor car i have ?

So would it be possible ?
Can I do it ?
How long time woult it take ?
Will there be any expences ?

I will be glad for answers (:

Fair bit of work, in-fact a lot. Everything in the engine bay would need to be swapped/changed out, from cooling (needs extra fan) to gearbox & everything in-between. Assuming its an auto currently?

Dash needs changing too, although thats quick job.

Whats wrong with 3.2 donor car? Unless accident damaged it would be a lot easier to fix that...

It's nothing wrong with it. it's just that the 3,2 is a german car ( I live in norway ) and to get the 3,2 roadlegal I would have to pay taxes. Alot of taxes. about 160000kr/17000gbp. since the 2,2 have been in norway now for over 10 years i can tune it without taxes. So that's just a way to avoid paying taxes to get a nice car  8)

And btw, no omega 3,2 were ever to be sold in norway... Some imported, but rare.

ahh I see  :y

Everything is possible, if the donor car is intact and you have everything it can be done.

As mentioned above, the autobox will have to be swapped over, but from experience an engine change is easier leaving the gearbox bolted on.

Its a straight swap almost once you clear engine bay, swap over engine mounts, coolant bottle & pipework. ECU needs to be swapped over of course, brakes can stay same, as I think PAS, scuttle area and other bits and bobs.
