My 2001 fl elite says 'elite' on the sides but boot says 'Omega 2.6 V6'.  Shouldn't it just say 'elite' there like some I have seen?

My 98 Elite had the word Elite on the doors and the tailgate/bootlid but my 3.2 F/L Elite only has it on the doors. The tailgate just has Omega 3.2 V6 on it.  :y

I think that is the more standard arrangement, for FL anyway.
PFL did seem to have Elite badges on the bootlid as well, but I don't think this was carried over to the newer model.
My own car did have 'Omega Elite' on the bootlid, but I think that had been created by a previous owner.

My MFL 3.9 says Elite in all 3 places and has no reference to the engine size at all, but a previous 2.5 Elite said Elite on the sides and had the engine size at the back.

I think there is a preferred way of doing it for any particular model - but dont forget that these things are stuck on by humans who make mistakes & sometimes they run short of a particular badge - with the rectifictaion either being done by a dealer at PDI or perhaps not spotted at all.

It changed over the years from giving engine to spec, no clear pattern I've seen.

Some even had 16v badges or 24v ones, some not.
