I have just watched the news and seen this diatribe going on in Pakistan and have been encouraged to put down my thoughts.
No matter the content or intentions of THAT film, this reaction by the followers of Mohammed is distinctly over zealous and is being carried out not by fundamentalist but by what appear's to be normal followers.
IMO this would appear to be a "mild" form of terrorism. In other words any form of criticism or ridicule of this particular "prophet" is met with with the most extreme, violent and murderous of protest so as to introduce fear into anyone that would dare to do this again. In extreme instances governments would (or have) be
forced into introducing legislation (and therefore fear of the law) to ensure that these events are avoided.
Is the belief and following of just one of many of this worlds "prophets" so fragile that in order to maintain stability and belief this form of reaction and protest is incited and instigated, and thus creating an ever increasing potential for fundamentalism. OR as previously stated is this just an excuse and relief valve for the regime these followers live under and worship under
The last riots in this country where instigated by the shooting of a what was believed to be a gun carrying youth, but are in some circles seen to be an indication of the futility and injustice of this countries "regime" and also the pure criminality of some individuals. Previous riots, Pole tax, Brixton, Blackwater Farm, St Pauls, Toxteth, Handsworth, Southall and Moss Side have also occurred because of perceived repression, injustice, recession or again policy. Although never because a particular prophet or belief was insulted.
In order to gain some perspective we need to look at other situations
Where were the riots when Mel Gibson insulted the Jews, or when Abu Quatada preached his hatred or when monty python released life of Brian or when people have criticised the scientolgist or when an imman preaches hatred and incites fundamentalism in a mosque or ........ Nowhere. If it was wrong there was general condemnation, bad press, etc and some form of lawful or moral justice with prosecution or formal apology. In other ways a tolerant and balanced reaction with an equally balanced outcome.
These followers of Mohammed are only displaying themselves to be a group of intolerant and belligerent believers and does not encourage me to at any time consider converting

It is stated by the leaders and voices of this particular prophet's followers that this is not the way of their belief and go to great lengths to ensure condemnation. YET. Is is widely understood that the instigators and perpetrators of this behavior, the preaching of fundamentalism and the sponsorship of terrorism is overlooked and ignored by their general community.
I am convinced that when a society stops allowing something from happening, IT STOPS.
I have quoted this before and will again "
All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing". Edmund Burke
Although the last two sentences could be also be attributed to why these riots are happening
I'm done. Would be grateful for your opinions
