Omega Elite missing something .
« on: 22 September 2012, 08:36:00 »

I knew there was something this top of the range car was missing , its got all the toys bar one :

A heated front screen  :( Even my old granada had one , a bonus for the frosty mornings ... must have been a too expensive option  :-\

Only because the crafty buggers at Ford owned the patent ::)

I for one am glad...cant stand them, they give me a headache even when off, just that blurry look to the screen.

I struggle with heated front screens at night, too much glare off oncoming headlights.

Never found I needed it, I start the car in the morning, come back in and do my ironing and get dresses, all nicely defrosted by the time I leave ::)

I miss that too. Had a Granada myself. Really got used to the option - it was really quick. Not too keen on starting the car and leaving it running outside the house. I never experienced any glare or blur from the nearly invisible lines in the screen.
But I did notice the cost of replacement - from a disance anyway. I only ever had 2 cracked windscreens in 20 something years of driving. It was this car - and only 2 weeks apart  >:( . Anyway, ins. co. covered it and just 2 weeks after a new screen, a stone was thrown up by a truck and chipped the new one. Two times 750 euro. Glad i was insured for glass. :y

TB ironing and dresses :o whatever next ;D

Joking aside, heated washer jets are perhaps more useful, and the Omega has them :y

Should we be concerned about this.  ;) ;D ;D

Found the heated screens to be very fast but know what people mean about the wavey lines. They never really bothered me though.

A lot of car thefts last year i believe with doing that  :o I still see a lot of folks chucking hot water on the screens for instant defrost  ::)

I can't see the point of heated screens. I mean unless there going to heat the side windows aswell. You still have to defrost the side windows, well having to clear the one more window at the front is hardly taxing when you have just scraped all six side windows.

Heat them all or just stick to the rear for demisting.
